RODSTAR-D has an easy to read and use output that minimizes the number of pages of paper you get. The main one-page calculation summary shows most important outputs you need. Also, the one deviation plot one-page summary shows seven deviation plots on one page.
After you enter (or import) the deviation survey for your well, you can see a 3-D plot of the wellbore. This is an interactive plot you can spin around with the mouse to look at different views, zoom in, etc. The program shows the different sections of the rod string with different colors. You can also access this 3-D plot while you are entering deviation data manually. The deviation entry input window calculates dogleg severity, true vertical depth, and North-South and East-West distances from your input of measured depth, inclination and azimuth.
RODSTAR-D is the only program of its kind to automatically design optimized conventional, steel, Corod, or fiberglass rod strings for you in seconds with the wave equation.
RODSTAR-D is the only program of its kind to calculate the cost of the rod string and pumping unit. You only need to enter the cost values once and you can easily update these values at any time. The rod string cost, along with the monthly electricity bill that RODSTAR-D also calculates, allows you to better compare system designs.
RODSTAR-D can simulate any pumping unit, including long stroke (Rotaflex) or hydraulic units. RODSTAR-D comes with a huge pumping unit data base (with over 4000 units) that includes data for:
RODSTAR-D allows you to enter production and pressure test points (1 to 10) and can generate IPR curves using Vogel or Fetkovich methods. Also, it dynamically calculates max. production rates for water and oil.
After you analyze a system with RODDIAG or XDIAG (diagnostic programs developed by Theta Oilfield Services), you can read the RODDIAG or XDIAG data file with RODSTAR-D. Also, you can overlay the measured dynamometer card on the predicted dynamometer card plot. This saves time and allows you to determine unknown quantities, such as rod-tubing friction and fluid level, and to detect bad data, such as an out-of-calibration load cell that results in a shift between the predicted and measured dynamometer cards.
In addition, RODSTAR-D for Windows can "animate" its dynamometer card plots by simultaneously showing how the surface and downhole loads change in actual pumping speed. This allows you to "see" rod stretch effects, load fluctuations on the plunger, the delay between pump and surface position, and other interesting effects that cannot be seen any other way.
RODSTAR-D for Windows has an interface that is very easy to use. It contains expert context sensitive help for every input field. RODSTAR-D uses a unique visual help system that includes drawings (for pumping unit dimensions, etc. Also, RODSTAR-D comes with an artificial lift glossary with definitions for hundreds of terms. It displays recommendations or warnings to help you avoid mistakes or to improve system design and with RODSTAR-D for Windows you can enter everything yourself, or have the program do most of the hard work for you.
RODSTAR-D allows you to customize the software for your application. You can enter defaults for all inputs that the program uses to automatically fill-in those fields, you can specify the maximum allowable steel rod and fiberglass rod loading, the rod guides you normally use, and the rated side load per rod guide. Also, you can enter rod string costs per foot, pumping unit cost, you can enter your own measured pumping unit dimensions, custom rod guides, you can customize the pumping unit database, you can customize the spreadsheet created when you run in batch, and more.
RODSTAR-D for Windows allows you to e-mail a case file directly from within RODSTAR-D to Theta Oilfield Services, Inc. for support.
This is especially convenient for discussion of special conditions that you might encounter and is available to all customers that continue to maintain their annual Technical Support Agreement.
RODSTAR-D for Windows has an enhanced Summary Report which displays the same as the output will look when printed.
The report includes additional options for sizing and multiple page display.
RODSTAR-D for Windows has a Visual Input window with a representation of the Rod Pumping System. Hotspots are available on the display which can be clicked to navigate directely to the relevant page or field for input.
This visual input allows you to simply point to the part of the system you want to modify and select which variable to change. Then you can rerun the report and you immediately see the effects of the change.
RODSTAR-D for Windows is available for a one-time licensing fee. A monthly lease-purchase option is also available.
